In Loving Memory of Vicki Hutchens
03/05/1959 – 10/28/2023
Vicki Hutchens, our beloved mother and wife, passed from this world on October 28th, 2023. She was received into the arms of Jesus after living a life full of love and joy, leaving behind a lifetime of memories to be cherished.
Vicki was born on March 5th, 1959 to Leonard & Jimmie Goodenough, and from that moment on, she was a sweet, gentle soul that didn’t know a stranger. Growing up as the daughter of an oilman, her family moved frequently, teaching her how to meet and love on anyone she met. She carried that with her throughout her life, as she always had an open door policy and made her home a safe haven for everybody.
Vicki dedicated her adult life to raising her kids and making friends. She loved working at the First State Bank of Rankin and later the Upton County Clerk’s Office. She served throughout the community of Rankin including through the First United Methodist Church and the Chamber of Commerce. She loved playing volleyball and had friends throughout West Texas because of it. As her kids grew up, she found friends in football fields and basketball gyms across the state. Later in life, she could be found riding the golf course with her husband, Hal, and chit chatting with everyone along the way. Her warm smile and friendly heart is missed across the Rankin community.
While warm and kind, Vicki also had a fighter’s soul, unwilling to waiver through adversity. She refused to allow an Alzheimer’s diagnosis to get her down and fought until the very end to keep her family in her memories. Her faith in God gave her the courage to live life to the best of her abilities regardless of what came at her. Her grit and quiet resilience was on display until her final breath on Earth.
Vicki is survived by her husband, Hal Hutchens, her daughters Rachel (Ray) Brown & Paige (Jimmy) Lopez, and her sons John (Christina) Hutchens & Andrew Hutchens. Her grandchildren Abby (Josue), Gage, Katie, Julia, Gunner, Jillian, and Jenna were the light of her life and the beam in her eye that she loved deeply. She is also survived by her sister, Connie (Joe) Morgan and her sister in law Barbara (Teddy) Johnson as well as several nieces.
A service to celebrate the life of Vicki will be held on Wednesday, November 1st, 2023 at 2pm at the First United Methodist Church of Rankin. All are welcome to attend and pay their respects.
The world has lost a sweet soul, and her memory will live on in the hearts and minds of all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace, and may her family find solace in the beautiful memories she leaves behind.
