VERNON C. TUCKER
CRANE: In the early hours on Tuesday April 14th, our husband, daddy, paw and friend, went to be with his heavenly father.
Vernon Carroll Tucker was born December 14, 1931 to Dessie and Carroll Tucker in Springhill Arkansas. He came to West Texas in 1951 to begin his lifelong work in the oilfield. He married Yvonne Powell and from that union, four children were born. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Yvonne and their son, Frank. He married Billie Jones in July 1970 and together they had one son. Dad worked in the oilfield for Sharp Drilling Company for about 40 years. He retired in the early 90's and he and Billie enjoyed garage selling and raising grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife; Billie Tucker, three daughters; Jackie Moore and her husband Jeff of Greenwood, Cindy Pitts and her husband Darrel of Waller, and Roberta Crump of Crane, three sons; Keith Tucker and wife Suder Damron of Mancos CO., Glenn Follis of Carlsbad NM., and Lathan Tucker and his wife Toni of Crane. He also left behind twenty grandchildren and twenty three great-grandchildren along with a host of family & friends. He also left behind a very special friend, Poopy, his Pomeranian puppy, who will miss him dearly. We Love and Miss you Dad!
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 17th, 2009 at the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Crane with Reverend Lyndel Lee, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Crane County Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
