TOMMY JOSEPH GIBBS
IRAAN: Tommy Joseph Gibbs was born April 6, 1932 to Bill & Gertrude Gibbs in Gotebo, OK.
He married the love of his life, Dolly Williams on November 27, 1957. He was preceded in death by parents and loving wife; one granddaughter Sidra Lipscomb; and one great-granddaughter Dolly Light; and one sister Helen Dodson.
He is survived by two daughters, Glennia Lipscomb of Tow, Della Alldredge and husband Roy of Iraan; two step sons, Jimmy Light of Miami, Texas and Doyle Light of Grape Creek; fourteen grandchildren, Robert, Kelli, Brandon, Jesse, Chenay, Sabrina, Jimmy, Jerrifer, Byron, James, Daniel, Brandy, Kristie and Hydie; four great-grandchildren, Jasper, Kenzie, Jakob and Aiden; and several step grandchildren. Two brothers, Bill Gibbs and his wife Judy of Robert Lee, and Mervin Gibbs and his wife Ida of Odessa; several nieces and nephews; and a very special and wonderful friend, Pansy Smart of Iraan, who was not only his right arm but the left also.
He loved life and lived it to the fullest. He never met a stranger and would help anyone. He would give you the shirt off of his back. He was a life time oilman from drilling with cable tool rigs from a young man until he started producing his own leases. He loved reliving the days of the oilfield. He loved to fish and even has pictures to prove some of the unbelievable fishing trips and fish. He loved his family dearly as well as they loved him.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 20, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Iraan with Reverend Mike Wright officiating. Burial will follow in the Restland Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
