Thomas Carson "Boss" Kincaid

Thomas Carson "Boss" Kincaid passed away on September 28, 2013, at Pecos County Memorial Hospital in Fort Stockton, Texas. He was 91.
Boss was born December 2, 1921, in San Angelo, Texas, to Maud S. and John Albert Kincaid. He was the second of three sons. Boss's early years were spent in San Angelo, Fort Stockton, and Kerrville, Texas. He graduated from Tivy High School where he was an outstanding field goal kicker on the football team, earning him the nickname "Golden Toe". Boss attended Texas Christian University for two years and played football there as well. He left school to enlist in the Army Air Corps during World War II and served for the next four years. When the war was over, Boss and his older brother Bert, Jr. came back to Pecos County to run the family ranch.
Boss married Bobbye Ray Payne on November 26, 1949, in Fort Stockton, Texas. Due to the drought, Bobbye and Boss moved to Pecos, Texas, where he worked for the Greyhound Bus Line. In 1950 they purchased an old ranch house in Sheffield, Texas, and had it moved to the family ranch south of Fort Stockton. There they started a family, raising three sons, and also began ranching again.
In the 1960's Boss went to work for Firestone as a test car driver. He earned numerous safety awards and his million mile award before retiring. In 1967 Bobbye, Boss, and their three sons moved to town so he could enjoy his other passion, golf. Boss was an avid golfer. He was on the Board of Directors at the Pecos County Golf Course and on the committee that started the Par-Tee Golf Tournament. During this time Boss was still dedicated to the ranch, raising sheep until 1992. Eventually his three sons took over the ranching operation and began raising cattle. Boss was a member of the First Christian Church where he served as a deacon.
Boss is survived by Bobbye, his wife of 63 years, and his three sons and their wives: T.C. Kincaid, Jr. (Dru), R.B. Kincaid (Gail), and Worth L. Kincaid (Jeannie) all of Fort Stockton. He leaves behind five grandchildren: Leah (Brad) Beard, Kyle (Natalie) Kincaid, Jason (Crystal) Kincaid, James (Beth) Kincaid, and Zachary (Tara) Kincaid and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a niece, Nikki Kincaid Keller of Denver, Colorado.
Services are planned for Tuesday, October 1, 2013, 10:00 AM at the First
Presbyterian Church in Fort Stockton with the Reverend Dr. Jim Miles officiating. Pallbearers are Kyle Kincaid, Jason Kincaid, James Kincaid, Zachary Kincaid, Brad Beard, and Mike Mowry. Burial will follow at East Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of Crane.
