Tamela Gaye Mitchel Mollett

December 31, 1969 — January 12, 2009

McCAMEY Tamela (Tami) Gaye (Mitchel) Mollett, 38, of McCamey, passed away on Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, in the Parkview Hospital in El Reno, Oklahoma.
Services were held at the First Baptist Church of McCamey on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. followed by interment at Resthaven Cemetery in McCamey. Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
She and her twin sister, Pam, were born on July 13, 1970, in San Angelo, Texas, to Forest Pete and Brenda Carroll Mitchel. Tami attended school in McCamey, TX, graduating in 1988. She received a band scholarship and attended Sul Ross State University in Alpine, TX. She also attended Odessa College. After several jobs, she finally found the job that she always said she was "born to do" when she became a truck driver for Stevens Transport. She loved driving and seeing the beautiful country side every day. Her job provided a daily adventure of new sites and new friends, as she never met a stranger. Because of her travels, she has friends across the entire United States. Because she was so good at her job, she became a student driver trainer and did her best to pass her expertise on to her students.
Tami loved spending time with her family and, because of her job requirement, cherished the time she was able to spend with them. Having no children of her own, her nieces and nephew were the highlight of her life. According to Tami's mySpace, "they are my pride and joy and I love them with all I have and all that I am. They give promise to each one of my tomorrows and never seem to amaze me as to how smart they are. I wouldn't trade my time with them for anything in the world." A visit from Aunt Tami was truly a very special time for them.
Tami is survived by her mother, Brenda Hoffman and step-father Raymond "Bubba" of Brady; her father Pete Mitchel of McCamey; brother Jimmy Mitchel and wife Diana of Gladewater; twin sister Pamela Adams and husband Rob of McCamey; maternal grandmother, Helen Jacobson of Brady; nieces Angelique Mitchel of Menard, Naomi Mitchel of Gladewater, McKenna Ford, Erin, Shelbi, and Avery Adams all of McCamey; nephew Gunner Adams of McCamey; and her best friend and co-worker, Rebecca "Becky" Roberts of Van Horn.
Tami was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Carl "Jake" Jacobson of Brady that she loved so much. He was her "Bapa" and they shared a very special relationship. Her paternal grandparents, Robert Lee and Mary Ruth Pierce Mitchel of Brady, also preceded her in death.
Tami was known for her generous and giving nature. Even though we all know she is soaring in Heaven on angels wings, she will be greatly missed by her family and the hundreds of friends she has made crisscrossing the country.
