CRANE: Ray O. Pahl, 75 of Crane, passed away on Sunday, August 16, 2009 at his home in Crane.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 20, 2009 in the Crane County Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of Crane.

Ray was born on December 7, 1933 in Elgin, North Dakota to Arthur and Katherine Dietz Pahl. He was a Veteran, serving in the United States Air Force. On January 27, 1957 Ray married Donna Sue Watson in Sundown, Texas.

Ray began his career with Aerojet General Corporation in Sacramento, California in 1957. While employed with Aerojet he was an engineering project assistant. During his time with Aerorjet he had the opportunity to be involved with and be a vital part of the Gemini Project which he was always proud of. Ray served as plant manager for Tubeco Steel from 1965 until 1983; he worked at Odessa Babbitt Bearing as a purchasing agent from 1983 until 1985;
then before his retirement he worked as plant manager for National Foundry from 1985 until 1998.

Ray was very active in his community. He had served on the Crane City Council; Crane County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors; the Crane Hospital Board of Directors; Crane County Booster Club Board of Directors; Crane Little League Board of Directors; and the Crane Evening Lions Club.

Ray is survived by his wife, Donna Sue Pahl of Crane; his son Mark Pahl and his wife Sheila of Crane; a sister, Shirley E. Pahl of Novato, California; three grandchildren, Machele Pahl of Austin, Tana Perry and her husband Jeremy of Midland, and Derrick Pahl of Crane; one great granddaughter, Reese Perry of Midland; two nephews, Walter Watson of Crane, and Roy Watson of Lockhart, Texas; two nieces, Donna Ann Edwards of Odessa, and Robin Watson Schwartz of Tucson, Arizona; and two brothers- in-law, Gary Watson of Del Rio, Texas and Ed Watson and his wife Carol of Bergheim, Texas.
