Raul V. Gonzalez, 76, of Crane, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2014, at the Crane Memorial Hospital.
Rosary will be said at 7pm on Sunday, August 17, 2014, at the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 10am on Monday, August 18, 2014, at the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Crane County Cemetery.
Raul was born on February 11, 1938, in Edinburg, Texas. He was a longtime resident of Crane. Raul married Mary Barrandey on June13, 1970.
He worked for Crane ISD for many years as a mechanic before his retirement. He was a faithful member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church. He loved to hunt and fish; loved cars and trucks, and enjoyed working on them. Raul loved spending time with his family and friends, and he was a big Dallas Cowboys fan.
Raul is survived by his wife, Mary Gonzalez of Crane; his son, Gabriel Gonzalez of Crane; his mother, Isabela Gonzalez of Edinburg, TX; his mother-in-law, Elvira Williams of Crane; 4 sisters, Ana Vento of Harlingen, Ramon Medina of Big Spring, Emma Gonzalez and Gabriela Hendricks, both of Edinburg; a brother, Eladio Torres of Edinburg; 4 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
