Peggy Joyce Cunningham, 78, of Crane, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015.
Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Crane, TX, with Dr. John Gerlach, officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at the Crane County Memorial Cemetery. A Visitation will be held Monday evening at Shaffer – Nichols Funeral Home from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Peggy was born on May 16, 1937 in Greenville TX, to Jack and Lela Tidwell. She graduated from Midland High School in 1955 and later married Glynn Howell Cunningham on September 24, 1955. Together with 59 years of memories, they moved to Crane in 1960 from Midland. Peggy’s professional career as a bookkeeper allowed her to retire with Gulf Oil Company. Years later she retired from the Crane County Auditor’s office. She served as a volunteer to the Crane County-Museum of the Southwest. As an active member of First Baptist Church Crane, Peggy devoted her life to serving others in her community, quietly behind the scenes, coordinating meals for families who had lost loved ones, regardless of their church affiliation.
Survivors include a daughter Cheryl & her husband J. T. Epley of Crane, three sons, Mickey & his wife Pam of Midland, Gregory & his wife Leslie of Canyon, and Brian & his wife Susie of Houston; a sister, Vicki Hackett & her husband Bill of Carrollton; a younger brother, Joe Ray Tidwell & his wife Wanda of Burnet, Sister-in-Law, Zella Cunningham of San Antonio. She had eleven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
