Lula Adair Caldwell, 92, of Crane, passed away on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, in Crane.

Lula was born on May 14, 1931, in Nowata, Oklahoma. Lula married Billy Deans Caldwell on August 6, 1949.

 

Billy and Lula raised 3 sons in Crane, Texas. She was a member of the Baptist Church in Crane.  Lula worked at Crane Food store while her boys were younger.  She served on the Youth Center Board as President for at least 4 years.  Lula was also a member of the garden club in Crane and won several awards for her flower arrangements. She received her LVN and worked in several hospitals in the surrounding area, McCamey, Rankin and Odessa. While working she went on to obtain her license as a registered nurse.  After receiving that degree, she moved to Nowata, Oklahoma and became Director of Nursing until she retired.  Lula moved back to Crane in 2015 where she lived until her death.

 

She was the last surviving member of her family.  She is preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters.  Lula is preceded in death by her husband Billy Deans Caldwell and one granddaughter Jo Kelly.  

 

Surviving members of her family are; William Gregg (Vicki) of Crane, John Edward (Debbie) of Victoria, and Steven Carl of Crane. She has 3 grandchildren, Clay (Elita) of Friendswood, Brian (Dottie)of Port Lavaca and Jake of Coleman. Lula has 4 great grandchildren John Preston, Chloe Elise, Martha Pearl and Bethanie Opal.
