Luciana "Grandma Chanita" Mendoza, 81, of Crane, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2012 at her home in Crane.
Rosary will be said at 7pm on Monday, June 25, 2012 at the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home in Crane. Funeral Mass will be held at 11am on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Crane. Burial will follow in the Crane County Cemetery with arrangements under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Jason Villegas, Carl Gonzales II, Christian Chavez, Baltazar Vargas, Jorge Lopez, Noel Lozano, Adrian Villegas, and Jeremiah Villegas.
Luciana was born on January 7, 1931 in Monahans, Texas. She was a homemaker and a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Luciana was a longtime resident of Crane, moving here in 1976. She loved to cook for her family. She enjoyed music, and dancing, and loved watching novelas on television. Luciana was dedicated to her daily rosary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Medardo Mendoza; a son, Juan Carlos; two grandsons; one great grandson; and several siblings.
She is survived by four daughters, Mary (Luz Maria) Villegas and her husband Agustin of Crane, Eduvina Gonzales and her husband Carl of Midland, Sally Rodriguez and her husband Pete of Crane, and Noemi Chavez and her husband Felix of Crane; two sisters, Julia Pimentel of Anaheim, California, and Clara Baldez Torres of Pilares, Mexico; 10 grandchildren, Jessica Vargas, Jason Villegas, Alexa Lopez, Gabbie Lozano, Leslie Rodriguez, Alissa Rodriguez, Carl Gonzales II, Janette Villegas, Christina Chavez, and Christian Chavez; and 9 great grandchildren, Amurette Vargas, Jazlyn Vargas, Maya Villegas, Kaleb Lozano, Blaise Lopez, Idalia Villegas, Ismuri Villegas, Braylea Lopez, and Zoe Dziedzic.
