Kenneth David Harrison, 89, of McCamey, Texas, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2018, in McCamey.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 27, 2018, from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home in McCamey. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 28, 2018, at the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home in McCamey with Charles Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery.

Kenneth was born on September 27, 1928, in Fannin County, Texas.

Kenneth moved from Paris, Texas to Odessa, Texas where he met the love of his life, Juanita Fay Cox. He married the love of his life on February 26, 1966, in Odessa, Texas. They were married for a total of 52 years.
He worked in the oilfield from pulling units to truck driving. He knew every lease that he had ever been on. He could tell you stories about everyone of them. He also had a love for people, never meeting a stranger. He loved his family very much. He had a story to tell about each and everyone of them. Some of his grandkids remember him as Granddaddy long legs. Kenneth was a great man. He raised 6 boys and 7 girls. A total of 13 children. He loved taking all of them camping and fishing. He also enjoyed holidays with all of his family. His biggest love in life were babies, children, and older people. There never was a child that was scared of him. He just had a special bond with kids. He always had a story to tell you. He loved to listen to people sing gospel music. He would tell us all, “When the Good Lord is ready, I’m ready, it’s up to the man upstairs. I’ve lived a long happy life”.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Lucill McQueen, Revel Martin, and Helen Briggs; three children, Billie Welch, Mitchell Welch, and Leon Welch.

Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Juanita Fay Cox Harrison of McCamey, Texas;
He is also survived by all of his, hers, and ours. Children: Harry Leon Gipson of Abilene, Texas, Rebecca Kathleen Hallmark of Odessa, Texas, Kenneth David Harrison Jr. and his wife Mary Harrison of Melbourne, Florida, Juanita Berdie Welch of Midland, Texas, Martha June Zieggler and husband Howard of Snyder, Texas, Donald Ray Welch and wife Kathy of Big Lake, Texas, Debra Kay Bale and husband Larry of Houston, Texas, Jeffery Steven Harrison and wife Stephinie of Odessa, Texas, Tina Nadine Haynes of Colmansville, Texas, Karen Lynn Shuler and husband Ricky of McCamey, Texas; and numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
