JUSTINO OLIVAS "WELO" ORTIZ
CRANE: Justino Olivas "Welo" Ortiz, 80 of Crane, passed away on Friday, May 29, 2009 at his home.
Rosary/wake services will be held at 7:00 PM on Sunday, May 31, 2009 at the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home in Crane with Deacon Julio Carrasco officiating. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 1, 2009 at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church with Father Laurent officiating. Burial will follow in the Crane County Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Mr. Ortiz was born on April 14, 1929 in Mexico. He had lived in Crane for 36 years. He had retired from National Foundry; and was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Mr. Ortiz was preceded in the by his wife, Maria Del Carmen "Wela" on June 18, 2005; and a son, Catarino Ortiz in 1982.
Survivors include six sons, Jorge Ortiz and his wife Consuelo "Cody" of McCamey, Hector Ortiz and his wife Debra, Jesus Ortiz and his wife Sandra, Alfredo Ortiz and his wife Maria all of Crane; Raul Ortiz and his wife Pearl, and Fernando Ortiz and his wife Corina all of Odessa; two daughters, Celia Quezada and her husband Sergio, and Carmen Ortiz and Ramon Garcia; all of Crane; three brothers, Faustino Ortiz of Pecos, Joaquin Ortiz of Ojinaga, Mexico, and Heriberto Ortiz of Crane; and one sister, Hermelinda Ramirez of Austin, Texas; 27 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
