Juanita H. Martinez, 84, of Rankin, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at her home in Rankin.
Rosary will be said at 7pm on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home Chapel in McCamey. Funeral Mass will be held at 2pm on Friday, November 23, 2012 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in McCamey with Father Isidore officiating. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery with arrangements under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Juanita was born on June 24, 1928 in Brackettville, Texas. She was a homemaker and longtime resident of Rankin, living there for almost 60 years. She loved to play bingo, she enjoyed cooking as well as shopping. She worked at the Crane Nursing Home for many years in the housekeeping department. Juanita was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Rankin. Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Fidencio Martinez in 1980; and her grandson, Johnny Rosales Jr. in 2003.
She is survived by her son, Jimmy Martinez and his wife Rosa of Rankin; three daughters, Edna Aguilar and her husband Adolfo of Odessa, Rita Rosales and her husband Johnny of Iraan, and Gloria Lopez and her husband Robert of Corpus Christi; three sisters, Felisa Puentez of Odessa, Elida Lara of Big Lake, and Estella Chavez of San Angelo; 9 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
