Jean Myrick

April 3, 1925 — February 2, 2022

Jean Myrick, 96, after living 52 years in McCamey, Texas, changed her residency to heaven on February 2, 2022.

Celebration of her life will be Monday, February 7, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home in McCamey, Texas.

Jean Myrick was born Norma Jean Bramlett to Herman Melvin Bramlett and Maude Louise Whitley Bramlett on April 3, 1925 in Ladonia, Texas.
She graduated from Ladonia High School. She had Polio in her teens, but recovered and went to college at East Texas State and then on to The University of Oklahoma where she graduated with a Journalism Degree. After graduation she worked in Dallas for Blue Cross Blue Shield.
David Nicholson Myrick III served in the Army in WWII and when his service to the country was over, he asked Jean to marry him. The high school sweethearts eloped to Portales, New Mexico and were married on September 27, 1952. They lived first in Colorado City and then Midland, Texas where Jana Dee Myrick and Lou Dell Myrick were born.

Shell Pipeline took them to Anaheim, California. David Nicholson Myrick IV was born in Long Beach and Linda Lee Myrick was born in Anaheim, California.
In 1970, the family was transferred to McCamey, Texas. Jean was a substitute teacher for a time. She was a faithful member of the First Methodist Church of McCamey. She was a member of UMW- United Methodist Women and served as president several times. She joined the Study Club and held many leadership positions, including President. She brought her love of all things green to the Garden Club where she held various leadership jobs. She was even a member of the Chamber of Commerce. She was still going to Water Aerobics at 95 years of age.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Nicholson Myrick III and her son David Nicholson Myrick IV.
Left to cherish her memories are her children: Jana Little of Midland and husband Terry, Lou Dell Myrick of McCamey and Linda Turner of Abilene and husband Terry.
Her 5 grandchildren are Cassie Dee Little, Molly Beth Little Cox (Brett), David Nicholson Myrick V, Brad Lee Turner (Kaitlin) and Bailey Dawn Turner Rogers (Jordan).
Her 4 great-grandchildren are Macy Jane, Kendal Blair and Brady Andrew Cox and David Nicholson Myrick VI.
