Henry Lee Watson

McCamey - Henry Lee Watson passed away Friday, June 18, 2010 at his home in McCamey.

He was born December 17, 1939 in Atlanta, Texas to Lewis Henry and Lela Mae Watson. He graduated from Atlanta High School in 1958. He married Lou Ann McKinzie on May 20, 1961 in Dike, Texas.

He retired from Shell Oil Company in 1993 after 33 years of service. He was a volunteer fire fighter in McCamey for 23 years and served as the fire marshal for the City of McCamey.

Henry was a loving husband, wonderful father and grandfather and an avid outdoorsman. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of McCamey and a founding member of Castle Gap Bass Club. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his lake house at Box Canyon on Amistad Reservoir.

He was preceded in death by his father Lewis Henry Watson.

Survivors include his mother, Lela Mae Watson of Atlanta, Texas, his loving wife of 49 years Lou Ann of McCamey; his children Cindy and husband Darrell Montgomery of Cranfills Gap, Greg and wife Sissy of Monahans, Craig and wife Randi of San Antonio; his grandchildren Gentry Watson, Tyler Watson, Casey Montgomery, Dakota Montgomery, Hayes Watson and Hatcher Watson. Sisters Linda Whitley and husband Leslie, Betty Williams and husband Earl Wayne; special aunt Charlie Stovall; mother-in-law Doris McKinzie; brother-in-law Doyle McKinzie and wife Brenda; numerious nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of McCamey. the family wishes to thank the first responders of the McCamey EMS and the emergency staff of the McCamey Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, June 21, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in McCamey with Dr. Charles Alkula officiating. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery in McCamey.
Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home in McCamey.
