Glynda Taylor
McCAMEY: Glynda Gay Taylor left her loving home here on earth to join the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on September 10, 2008 at 12:34 A.M.
Glynda was born Oct. 30, 1945 in Borger Texas to Glyn and Irene Myers. Preceding her in death were her Mother, Irene Myers and her sister Sharon Myers.
Glynda was one of the most unselfish and kindest persons, always thinking of others before herself. She was a wonderful wife , Mother and grandmother. The newest addition was her little one year old great-granddaughter, Taylor, whom she delighted in, as well as the other 2 great grandchildren. She had a great love for children. She loved each member of her family which showed when she talked of them, as well as a long list of special friends. When her sister passed away she and husband Charles took her four children as their own to raise.
She loved working for the town of McCamey, and was always working on some project for the McCamey Chamber of Commerce, or other organizations she belonged to such as the Lions Club, and was a member of the McCamey Texas Veterans Memorial Committee. As if this was not enough, she served diligently and loyally for the McCamey EMS and the McCamey Volunteer Fire Department. She also was loyal with helping with the Nifty Fifty Reunion and All Class reunions for McCamey though she spent her school years in Crane. Glynda had a great talent with her painting, not only beautiful pictures, but in 2000 she painted a wonderful mural on the walls of a building in town for the 75th celebration. She received the honor that year of being crowned as "First Lady of McCamey," and also received "Outstanding Citizen," for that year.
She was also a talented beautician and operated "Allen's Hair Studio" for many years. Besides all this, she still found time to care for her elderly and ill father, Glyn Myers, whom she was named for.
Survivors are her beloved husband, Charles Ray Taylor, Father Glyn Myers of Austin, Texas, daughters Connie Ramey of Crawford, Texas. Debra Crossland of McCamey, Texas, Cindy Terry of Bridgeport, Texas, Sheryl Taylor of McCamey, Donna Taylor of Houston, Texas, Rondia Taylor of San Antonio, Texas. Sons, Allen Taylor of San Antonio, and Ray Hudec, brother Bill Myers of Kermit, Texas. Sister Doris Tarpley of Crane, Texas. Son in Laws, Richard Crossland, Randy Ramey, and Rodney Terry; 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; 43 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 13, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church in McCamey with the Reverend Murray Sauders officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Memorials can be made to the Nifty Fifty Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 11, McCamey, Texas 79752; or to the McCamey Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 1011, McCamey, Texas 79752.
