GEORGE R. McCORKLE
CRANE: George R. McCorkle, 77 of Fort Stockton, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 PM at the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dr. Jim Miles officiating. Burial will follow in the Crane County Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Mr. McCorkle was born on August 11, 1932 in Crane, Texas. He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the US Coast Guard. He was a self employed pumper. He had lived in Fort Stockton area since 1962, moving from Crane. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Crane; and he was a Mason for 50 Years.
He is survived by his wife, Neva McCorkle of Fort Stockton; one son, Glenn McCorkle of Fort Stockton; a grand daughter, Chyrel Mayfield and her husband, Kerry of Snook, TX; and a great-grandson, Robert Mayfield also of Snook, TX.
