Gene Kennedy, 78, of McCamey, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2011, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 24, 2011, at the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery with arrangements under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of McCamey.
Gene was born to E. B. and Jessie Calder Kennedy on May 7, 1933 in Waldrip, Texas. He was a Navy Veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict. He was a retired gas plant operator, and a Baptist Minister.
He is survived by two sons, Jimmy Kennedy and his wife Tammy, and David Kennedy and his wife Yolanda, all of Midland; four daughters, Jeanie Prather and her husband Paul of San Angelo, Tammy Darlene Kennedy of McCamey, Jackie Kennedy of Eastland, and Hope Day and her husband Shawn of McCamey; one brother, Jessie Kennedy of Crane; twelve grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, and nephews.
