Essie Mae (Tillie) Lowe

CRANE: Essie Mae (Tillie) Lowe, 89 of Northglenn, Colorado, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2010 at the Malley Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 1, 2011 at the Crane County Cemetery with Reverend Tommy Parker officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of Crane.

Tillie was born in Charleston, South Carolina, August 21, 1921 and even though she did not live in the south for many years you could still hear some of that southern accent even at 89 years of age. She grew up with a love for fishing and hunting. Nothing like a fish fry with hushpuppies and sweet iced tea on the river!

After moving to Texas she discovered Country/Western music; Hank Williams, Ernest Tubb and the rest. She loved the music as well as loved to dance. What a time to be alive with all the Big Bands. Her last 8 years were spent living in an assisted living facility in Colorado and when entertainers were brought in and they were singing the songs from her past, you would always find Tillie "chiming" in.
Tillie also found another love in Texas when she met Houston Lowe and married on August 8th, 1945. Cynthia, their daughter was born three years later. They always liked to call her Chief. Tillie first moved to Colorado in the mid 1950's but moved around for the next 40 to 45 years before finally settling in Colorado for the last time.
Tillie was preceded in death by her husband, Dec 31, 2001, and is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Cindy to most of you), granddaughters Michelle and Shannon and four great-grandchildren Kylee, Dylan, Emily and Keaton.
