Erlinda Casias

Erlinda Casias, 93, of Bastrop, and formerly of McCamey, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2014, in the Lost Pines Nursing Home in Bastrop.

Rosary will be said at 7pm on Thursday, October 9, 2014, at the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home Chapel in McCamey. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am on Friday, October 10, 2014, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in McCamey with Deacon Art Casias officiating. Burial will follow the Resthaven Cemetery with arrangements under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.

Erlinda was born on August 26, 1921, in Medina, Texas. She was a homemaker and a longtime resident of McCamey. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mrs. Casias moved to Bastrop in 2010. She loved reading her Bible, and playing bingo, which she won almost every time she played. She loved to exercise and was very active. Erlinda loved her family and very protective of them, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Manuel Casias; six children, Olga, Jose Manuel, Rosa Linda, Eva, Maria Louisa, and Juan Antonio.

Survivors include three sons Robert Casillas and his wife Aida of Bastrop, Pete Casillas and his wife Dellia, and Alex Casillas and his wife Sulema, all of Odessa; four brothers, Juan Salinas of Chicago, Daniel Salinas, Tomas Salinas, and Mario Salinas, all of San Antonio, Texas; three sisters, Jesusa Gonzales of San Antonio, Mada Perez of Houston, and Maria Louisa Salinas of McAllen; 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
