Edward Ornelas

March 27, 1944 — February 26, 2022

Edward (Lalo) Ornelas, age 77, loving father of three, and adoring husband to his wife Sophia Ornelas, passed away in the early hours of February 26, 2022, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's. Edward was born in 1944 in Grandfalls, Texas to the late Thomas and Magdalena Ornelas.

He grew up surrounded by a large family. He had 7 siblings and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Edward was influenced by his family to be a loving and caring man, always giving his time to others. He met his wife Sophia who lived right next door, they fell in love and decided to start their own family. He married Sophia on January 1, 1966.

In his free time, he loved working on cars and loved going to the drag races to race his 68 Camara. He loved old trucks and bought himself a 51 Chevy. He would always say, “stick to Chevy and you can't go wrong”. He loved sitting in his shop, rebuilding motors and of course drinking his beer. He never charged a friend to work on or paint their cars. He would always say, “just bring a 12 pack and we will call it good.” Edward just loved having friends over and sitting in his shop conversating. He will be greatly missed by his family, especially his loving wife Sophia Ornelas and his children; Melinda, Ronnie and Tami who adore him with all their hearts.

We know that we can't have you, but we are happy knowing you are not suffering anymore. Rest in paradise Dad, we love you.

Edward is survived by his wife, Sophia Ornelas; his daughter Melinda Cerna (Luis), his son Ronnie Ornelas (Marina) and daughter Tami Mann. His grandchildren April Dominguez, Brittany Huertas, Brandon Cerna, Justin Ornelas, Adrianna Vega, Alexandra Velasco, Kaylee Mann, Andrew Mann, and Edward Mann and many great grandchildren. Brothers Lee Ornelas, Larry Ornelas, Oscar Ornelas; Sisters Elda Ornelas, Lisa Sotelo.

He is preceded in death by his baby brother Peter Ornelas, Sister Elena Nunez and parents Tom and Magdalena Ornelas.
