FT. STOCKTON: Drew Aaron Slater, 25 died Friday morning in his Fort Stockton home. Drew was born on May 24, 1983. Drew graduated from Boerne High School in 2002. He attended Texas Tech University the following fall where he would eventually meet his future wife, Alexandria Nicole Mitchell of Amarillo, Texas Allie & Drew were wed on August 12, 2006 in Amarillo, and resided in Lubbock until moving to Fort Stockton in 2007. Drew graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in Agricultural Economics.

While attending Boerne High School, Drew coached Special Olympics and was a volunteer firefighter. At Texas Tech, Drew served as a member of the Student Government Association as well as a member of the Farmhouse Fraternity. In Fort Stockton, Drew was a member of the Lions Club and worked in the family business. He and his wife attended First Presbyterian Church in Fort Stockton.

Survived by wife, Allie Mitchell Slater, Fort Stockton; mother and father, Jeff and Amy Slater, Alpine, TX; one brother, Lee Slater, Lubbock, TX.: mother-in-law and father-in-law, Amy and Malone Mitchell, Edmond, OK; two brother-in-laws, Noah Mitchell, Dallas, TX, Briggs Mitchell, Denver, CO; one sister-in-law, Libby Mitchell, Edmond, OK; Grandparents, Norma and Dan Slater, Huntsville, TX; Grandmother Estabell Carpenter, Kerrville, TX; Grandparents, Roberta and Malone Mitchell, Jr., Sanderson, TX; and numerous other close family members.

A memorial service was held Monday, October 6, 2008, at the First Presbyterian Church in Ft. Stockton, TX. A private graveside service will held Thursday, October 9, 2008, in Alpine, TX under direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
