Imperial: Dorris Jean King, 86, lifetime resident of Imperial, passed from this life to her heavenly home Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at the Hospice House in Odessa. Dorris was born Sept. 26,1923 in Imperial to Eugene and Marian Grove.
She married R.D. King, Nov. 10, 1940 in Odessa, TX. To this union three sons were born, William in 1942, Bruce in 1944 and Marvin in 1946. After R.D. passed away in 1965, she remarried to Albert (Sunshine) Cox 1974, who passed away in1989.
She was a homemaker and longtime member/ Pianist of Imperial Baptist Church until her health failed her.
Dorris was preceded in death by her parents Eugene and Marian Grove, Her husbands R.D. King and Sunshine Cox, brother Truman Grove, son Bruce King, grandchildren Shelly Kay and Carol Dean King and step-grandson Jon Seilhant.
She is survived by two sons, William and wife Sherian of Imperial, Marvin and wife L'Jean of McCamey, 5 grandchildren, Monique Bowles and husband Steve of Imperial,
Stacia Gill and husband Mitch of Bulverde, Bill King of Ft. Stockton, Monty King and wife Barbara of Crane, Cody King and wife Vonnie of Crane, one step-grandson Wes Seilhant and wife Jennifer of Springtown, 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great -grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the McCamey Convalescent Center and the Hospice House in Odessa for all their care and love.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Imperial Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Parker officiating, burial will follow at East Hill Cemetery in Ft. Stockton.
Her request was that memorial contributions be made to Imperial Baptist Church in Imperial, TX.
