Dolores O. Holmes, 93, went to be with her Heavenly Father, September 1, 2014, with her family by her side in Brady, Texas.
She was born March 7, 1921, in Acuna, Mexico. She moved from Del Rio to Sheffield in 1963 and then to Brady in 1988.
Her interests included family, gardening, sewing and reading her bible. She devoted much of her time and energy to her family.
Dolores is survived by one daughter, Elva Holmes of Maypearl; 3 sons and their spouses, Boyd and Patty Holmes of Midland, Henry and Faye Holmes of Iraan, Rubin and Carolyn Holmes of Round Rock; one sister, Jovita O. Aguilar; and one brother, Robert Ozuna; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Collins Holmes Sr.; one sister; and 5 brothers.
A visitation will be held at the Mother Holmes Baptist Church in Sheffield at 8:30 a.m., Friday, September 5. Services to follow visitation at 10:00 a.m. and burial will take place at Sheffield Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are as follows: Collins Holmes, J.P. Williams, John Williams, Max Holmes, Robert Cortez, Jr. and Garrett Riley.
