Darwin Lee “D.L.” Lewis entered into eternal rest on Wednesday October 11, 2023 in Lubbock, TX. He currently resided in Lubbock after being a longtime resident of Crane.

He was born to C.R. and Irene Lewis on January 18, 1949 in Rockford, Illinois. He is preceded in death by his parents and stepmother Marge,  his wife Mary Jane “Janie” and son Eric. He is survived by his sons Chris and wife Carina, Chadd and wife Lori, his grandkids that he loved more than anything, Gabrielle(Gabby), Cayden(CJ), Amy(Nicky), Chris(Mikey) and Clara. He is also survived by his brothers John Lewis and Rick Lewis and many other family and friends.

D.L. was a man that didn’t know a stranger and was always ready to talk even if you didn’t want to hear it.  He made it known that he preferred his grandkids over his kids anytime he could. He was a man that was always looking out for others and willing to help anyone and in anyway he could. He was definitely opinionated and voiced them freely. He had a sense of humor that only those that really knew him understood. It was hard to tell if he was serious or just kidding. He will definitely be missed by his family, friends and others who he has met along his journey on this earth. He has earned his turn for eternal peace and rest with the good deeds he has done.

Out of respect for his wishes there will not be a standard service. His final arrangements are being handled by Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home which include his request to be cremated and then privately be buried at a later date. In lieu of any flowers or plants please follow his example and help someone in need.
