Sister Bucilla Abron Bowens entered this life April 18,1926 to Bridgett Skinner (Mother) and John Hopkins (Father) in Upshur County

Education: She started her education at New Mountain and finished at Valley View both in Upshur County
Sis. Bucilla Bowens accepted Christ at the age of nine at Prince Methodist Church. She held on to her God and Faith throughout her life even as God called her home on July 29,2020.

She moved to Crane Texas in 1952 and joined with Mt. Zion Baptist and baptized under Pastor Tommy Hollins. Under his leadership she served as church secretary for 28 years, as well as serving 27 years in the Permian Basin District Association. She was an active member of the Woman’s Mission, teacher of the Beginners, Primary, senior choir assistant, and B.T.U. director. In March of 1987 she united with the Faith Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor H. A. Bowens(deceased) there she served in the adult choir, president of the Matron Mission, president of Mission. In 2003 she offered her resignation due the failing health of Pastor Bowens. After returning to Crane she united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor J.M. Jeffery where she was named Mother of the church her health started to fail, she no longer could continue to come to church but she still supported her church.

Sis. Bowens married Jimmy L. Abron(deceased)who she married in 1944 in Upshur County. To this union was born 5 children Jimmy(Evelyn) Patsy Abron(deceased),Diana Abron(deceased),Dorothy Brown(Oliver), Joyce Williams (Luis deceased),and Carol Davis(Bobby) her marriage to Pastor Bowens she inherited 2 sons and a daughter, George Bowens, Hamilton Bowens and Eunice Bowens.
Sis. Bowens loved her family and leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. She always had advice if you needed it.

Her famous saying to all was “if you stick with me, I’ll make you famous” and at any moment she would always offer you Jesus.
