Baltazar Vargas Jr.

August 14, 1936 — June 3, 2011

Baltazar Vargas Jr., 74 of Crane, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2011 at the Reagan Memorial Hospital in Big Lake.

Rosary will be said at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home Chapel in Crane. Mass will be on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Crane with Father Laurent Mvondo officiating.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.

Mr. Vargas was born on August 14, 1936 in Presidio, TX. He was a longtime resident of Crane and he was a retired bulldozer operator for M & P construction. He had worked for M & P for over 20 years; and for D D Poynor Construction in Big Lake before his retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Maria Vargas of Big Lake; seven sons, Mike Vargas and Arturo Vargas, both of Big Lake, Ray Vargas of Midland, Manuel Vargas of Brenham, Baltazar Vargas of Crane, Edward Vargas of Norfolk, VA, and Rudy Vargas of Big Lake; eight daughters, Amelia Carrasco of Odessa, Linda Garcia of Bay City, Karen Holguin of Odessa, Rachel Stewart of Bowie, TX, Lori Zapata of Big Lake, Ester Lopez of Crane, Rebecca Vargas of San Angelo, and Jo Ann Elizondo of Midland; three brothers, Abel Vargas, Joe Vargas, and Andy Vargas all of Monahans; four sisters, Luisa Sanchez, Teresa Tavarez, Vivian Poritillo, and Manuela Levya all of Monahans; 44 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
