Anna Marie Soell Mills, 79, of Sanderson passed away on July 19,2022 at home. Marie was born on December 3, 1942 in Boerne, TX to Eddie Soell and Ruby (Wengenroth) Soell Meredith. She grew up on a ranch in Leon Springs and later lived in Boerne with her mom. She attended school in Boerne, TX.

She married Jack Preston Mills Sr. on January 17, 1959 at the Guadalupe County Courthouse in Seguin, TX. They raised three children, Len, Dean and Preston while they ranched and trained horses in New Braunfels, Sheffield and Sanderson, TX. Marie, Jack and their family ranched, trained and ran racehorses, trained working/roping horses, as well as polo and dressage. They have also raised cattle, goats and sheep. She worked beside Jack always, in every endeavor.

Marie and her family loved their work and their animals. She was an avid fisherwoman, loved to hike the trails of Big Bend National Park and loved her dogs, goats, horses and more almost as much as she loved her family. She loved playing Yahtzee with her grandchildren, she loved to cut cattle on Grey (Cincinnati Kid), was an amazing groom – her horses where known on the racetrack for having a checkerboard on their hip in glitter and pom poms in their mane, she kept meticulous books, AND her cooking was something to experience!

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Jack of 63 years and three children Len (Jennie) Mills, Dean Mills, Preston (Monica) Mills. Marie has ten grandchildren Jacob Mills, Paige (Shawn) Bates, Matthew Mills, Colton Mills, Levi Mills, Shyanne Mills (Jimmy Ramirez Jr.), Wyatt Mills, Blake Mills, Lexi Mills and Dakota Mills. Her great grandchildren include Katelynn Bates, Branson Bates, Bryleigh Bates and Levi Ramirez. Marie is also survived by her brother in law Wayne Mills, brother in law Charles (Janice) Mills and beloved nieces and nephews. Marie was preceded in death by her parents Eddie Soell and Ruby Meredith, stepfather Wallace Meredith, father in law Charles Mills, mother in law Helen Mills, and sister in law Connie Green.

The family wishes to thank Victoria Imboden, Marie’s wonderful caregiver of three and a half years, and Pecos County Memorial Hospital Hospice for their love, kindness and care. The funeral service will be held at the Sheffield Cemetery in Sheffield ,TX 79781 on July 23, 2022 at 10am.
