IRAAN: Alice C. Turpin, 74 of Iraan, passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at the Community Hospital in San Angelo, Texas.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Iraan with Reverend Earl Richardson officiating. Burial will be in the Restland Cemetery in Iraan. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Alice was born on November 10, 1934 in Silver City, NM. She married Evans Turpin, Jr. on August 26, 1955 in Houston, Texas. She was a longtime resident of Iraan, and was a homemaker. Alice was a member of the First United Methodist Church; the Iraan Archeology Society; and the Iraan Hospital Auxiliary.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Beulah Card; and a sister, Dorothy Frosch.
She is survived by her husband, Evans Turpin, Jr. of Iraan; one daughter, Shirley Casassa of Magnolia, TX; two sons, Allen Turpin of Iraan, and Bruce Turpin and his wife DeBora of Carlsbad, NM; two brothers, Tom Card, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Belen, NM, and Lewis Card and his wife Dutchie of McKinney, TX; a sister, Cathy Cramer and her husband Gil of Deming, NM; five grandchildren, Christa Casassa of Magnolia, TX, Adam Turpin of Henderson, TX, Summer Howard, Shawna Turpin, and Edward Turpin, all of Midland, TX; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
