Alfredo "Fred" Fuentez

Alfredo "Fred" Fuentez, 81, of Big Lake passed away Saturday, April 20, 2013 in San Angelo, Texas.
Rosary will be said on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 7pm at the Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home Chapel in McCamey. Funeral Mass will be held at 11am on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Laurent Mvondo officiating. Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery with arrangement under the care and direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of McCamey.
Fred was born November 3, 1931 in Rankin, Texas to the late Sotero Fuentez and Carmen Cruz Fuentez. He proudly served as a Corporal in the US Army during the Korean War. He married Juana Lujan in 1952. Fred was a retired tandem truck driver in the Permian Basin area. He lived in McCamey most of his life. He was known for his patience and wonderful sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1977, a son Michael in 1997, a brother Sotero (Tito) Fuentez and a sister Manuela Abalos.
He is survived by his daughter, Viola Pena and husband Ray of Big Lake; son Alfredo Fuentez of Big Lake, and son Stephen Fuentez of Dallas; sisters Rosa Fuentez Zarate of McCamey, Mercedes Fuentez Longoria of Hobbs, NM, and Cathy Abalos of Winnie, Texas. He is also survived by grandchildren Kelly Fuentez of Manitou Springs, CO, Rolando Pena of San Angelo, Eric Pena and wife Jamesia of Midland, Juana Fuentez of Manitou Springs, CO, Christy Roys of Big Lake, Michelle Wagner and husband Dino of San Angelo; great grandchildren Griffin Roys, Jocelyn Wagner and Joshua Wagner.
