Adelmira Lujan Carrillo

August 9, 1944 — February 9, 2024

McCamey

Adelmira Lujan Carrillo, known better by her loved ones as “Adele” or “Momo”, finished her race and entered into the Lord’s eternal presence on Thursday night, February 8, 2024, surrounded by her family and friends.

Adele was born on August 9, 1944, in Fort Stockton, Texas to Manuel and Lupe Lujan. She graduated from Fort Stockton High School in 1964, and she later met and married the love of her life, Juan Carrillo, on July 23, 1966.  After their marriage, Juan and Adele relocated to Los Angeles California in 1967 where they started their family with the birth of their first two children. As part of a job transfer, they moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1973.  While living in New Mexico they welcomed the addition of their third child to the family.  In 1981 as part of a second job transfer, the family returned to Texas and settled in McCamey. Here she remained for another 42 years until her passing. Adele was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Juan Carrillo, Sr.  He passed away in December 2019.

While living in McCamey, Adele dedicated her time as both a homemaker and a Certified Teacher’s Aide for McCamey ISD.  Adele was very active in her church, using her talents for intercessory prayer, cooking, and baking to serve her fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, and to aide in various outreach ministries of the church. Her interests and hobbies included reading, gardening, cooking, baking, and spending time with her family and friends. Adele was a wonderful example of a life spent serving the Kingdom of God, her family, and her fellow man.

Adele is survived by her three children, Juan Carrillo Jr, Veronica Sanchez, and Luis Carrillo. She was blessed with 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren are Paul Hale II, Gabriel Carrillo, Joslynn Carrillo, Zaray Zarate, Jacob Carrillo, and Ariana Carrillo.  Her great-grandchildren are Graham, Bradford, and Vivienne Hale.

Adele was the second oldest of 5 siblings. She was preceded in death by her oldest brother, Oscar Morales. She is survived by her two sisters, Delma Rodriguez and Imelda Ramos, and her brother, Manuel Lujan.
